九 州 (K Y Ū S H Ū)
Auf Kyushu war ich nur ein zwei Orten. Dieser Teil meines Reiseführers ist als mehr oder weniger unvollständig. Kyushu selbst erhält von mir höchsten den Status kann, wenn überhaupt. Ich würde mir Kyushu für eine dritte Reise aufheben. Man sollte erst Honshu bereist haben. Die lange Anreise macht es schwierig, Kyushu in einen Reiseplan einzubauen. Das Problem ist mit Hokkaido noch vertrackter. Es gibt Fähren nach Shikoku. Eine meiner Idee wäre es, Kyushu und Shikoku in eine Reise zu kombinieren und nicht über Tokyo zu fliegen.
On Kyuhsu I only visited two places, so far. And Shikoku is still a white area on my map. This part of my travel guide is more or less incomplete. Kyushu is rated as a “should visit”. It is something for your third trip or even later. Getting there is time consuming. If you want to visit both island you should think about not flying to Tokyo, but to Kansai Airport instead.

Beppu ist berühmt für seine 8 Höllen; heiße Quellen, in denen man nicht baden kann. Jede Quelle ist anders, allen gemeinsam, daß sie touristisch gut erschlossen sind. Sie sind sehenswert aber kein Grund für eine Reise nach Kyushu. Denkbar wäre ein Abstecher, wenn man von Kyushu nach Shikoku fahren will. Eine Tagesreise ist schwer zu planen; selbst Fukuoka ist weit weg.
Beppu is famous for it “Eight hells”. These are eight onsen (hot water spring) that are not siutable for bathing. Each hells is different from the others. The are nice, and you should visit them, but the are not that aweson that the are worth the trip ti Kyushu. Because on the location Beppu is not suitable for daytrip. Even Fukuoka is to far away.

Man bekommt den Blick in den Krater geboten, welcher seit Mitte der 90er mit einem See gefüllt ist, dessen türkisblaues Wassser kocht. Die Anfahrt ab Beppu ist eine Weltreise. Probiert euer Glück lieber von Kumamoto aus. Tücken: Immer wieder wird der Krater gesperrt, wenn die Aktivität/der Gasausstoß steigt. Da sonst in dem Ort weniger als Nichts los ist, hat ein Besuch ein gewisses Risiko.
Aso offers you a view into the crater, which is filled with a lake, in that the blue water is boiling by the heat coming from below. Getting there from Beppu is nightmare. Don’t do this mistake, like I did. Plan a trip starting in Kumamoto. But there is still one risk: The crater is often closed for tourist due to higher activity in release of toxic gas. If this happens, there is no plan B. There is nothing going on in the village and you will spend your day in waiting for the next train back or the crater to open.

Not visited but I have to mention it …
Kumamoto soll eine schöne Burg haben und bietet als Tagesausflug den Aso Vulkan. Nagasaki ist sicherlich eine Reise wert. Es ist ein historische Ort, nicht nur wengen der zweiten Atombombe. Daijima ist sicherlich allen ein Begriff. Fukuoka ist eher ein Druchreise/Umsteigeort, ein Stop auf dem Weg nach Nagasaki. Es ist eine moderne Stadt. Ich habe aber gehört, daß Fukoake für Japaner einer der wenigen Orte ist, an denen sie gerne leben würden. Das Nachtleben soll sehr gut sein.
Kumamoto has a nice castle. And daytrips to the vulcano Aso should be much easier from here than starting in Beppu, like I did. Nagasaki is sure a “must seen”. Beside the second atomic bomb it is a historical place. Fukuoka is more or less only a place for a brief stop. It is a modern city, but as far as I heard it is very popular for its night life and most of the younger Japanese people I talked to said, that Fukuoka is place they really think about living or studying there.

Ach ja … Wenn ihr meint, es fehlt etwas. Schreibt mir. Meine Informationen sind alt. Ich war 2006 auf Kyushu. In der Zwischenzeit kann sich einiges geändert haben. Vielleicht gibt es neue, bessere Zugverbindungen.
